Travel & Tourism

Tourism is a $400M industry in Carteret County, employing nearly 4,000 workers.  Although the peak summer season attracts hundreds of thousands of visitors to Crystal Coast beaches and waterways, the county is a year-round destination, with festivals and fun activities throughout the year.

The Crystal Coast Tourism Development Authority (“TDA”) manages travel and tourism marketing for Carteret County.  Short-term lodging providers collect a 6% occupancy tax, which is equally divided between the TDA and the Carteret County Beach Commission, which is responsible for periodic beach renourishment.  The TDA website, www.crystalcoastnc.org, is a comprehensive resource for visitors and prospective visitors.
